Volunteers don't necessarily have the time...

they just have the heart!

Volunteering

We could not do this without our loyal volunteers! We have many volunteer opportunities including the much-needed daily cleaning and caring for our dogs and cats, helping at fundraisers and mobile adoption events, sorting/stocking merchandise and staffing our thrift shop.  Set your own days and times and come whenever it fits your schedule. Volunteers are a priceless asset to our shelter in so many ways, and the animals benefit the most!

You can now fill out our shelter volunteer application online using the green button below. Once submitted, you will be contacted to schedule an orientation time. After you have attended an orientation then you may volunteer at the shelter any time during our regular operating hours.

For more information about volunteering at our thrift store call 573-374-2639 or stop by in person and ask to speak to the store manager.

Fostering

Becoming a foster family is another life-saving way to volunteer. Many animals in our care are not ready to be adopted, including the orphaned, malnourished, injured, ill or the victims of abuse or neglect. These animals may need long-term medical rehabilitation or extra socialization. If you're interested in becoming a foster volunteer, please fill out the foster application below. An OKK9 representative will reach out to you to discuss fostering opportunities when they arise.
